As Seen On Screen

10 Things I Hate About You - no, don't take it personally, that's the name of a film - one of my favourites in fact. It was released in the late 90s when teen comedies were all the rage and this one was one of the better ones. A modern-day adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew', it never fails to make me laugh, cry and then laugh out louder! I saw it for the first time on video (ooh, do you remember those??) and I was instantly hooked. So, after countless reruns, here's my weekend shopper's guide inspired by '10 Things I Hate About You'. Enjoy!

Chastity: I know you can be overwhelmed and I know you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?
1

Bianca: I think you can in Europe.

2
Kat: You can't just buy me a guitar every time you screw up, you know?

Patrick: Yeah I know, but then, you know, there's always drums and bass and maybe even one day a tambourine

3
Bianca: Where did you come from? Planet 'Loser'?
Kat: As opposed to Planet 'look at me, look at me!!'

4

B: There's a difference between like and love because I like my Skechers, but I love my Prada backpack.
C: But I love my Skechers.
B: That's because you don't have a Prada backpack.

5
Kat: I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much, it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right, I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, and the fact you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

And now for something a little bit different ...

I've just seen the most amazing set of photos. They're a bit different to everything else that I've shared so far, but I think they're so stunning I simply had to share them. They're by Alberto Seveso and they're from a series called a due Colori. I've never seen photography like this before. Breathtaking. I hope you like them too.

Bye for now.

I Made This...

I decided to do a craft inspired by Elsie Larson from A Beautiful Mess. I absolutely love this beautiful blog and I can't recommend it enough. I thought I'd have a go at restyling a pink blouse I bought on my last thrift shop haul.

You need crochet doilies (my local second hand shop and 2nd hand market sell these by the bucketload)

And then a top to sew them on (obviously - ha ha!). Here's mine:

So I pinned the doilies down and sewed them on with matching thread with my lil old sewing machine. and this is what I made...

Not bad for a first attempt, eh? Trouble is, I'm hooked - I want to do more. I feel an addiction coming on....

Bye for now.

I Made This...

I was feeling particularly creative just before Christmas last year so I made these...

If you've ever wondered how to make cake stands - ponder no more. It's extremely easy. First, you need to buy a cake stand kit - you can find these on eBay and a ceramic drill bit - again you can find these on eBay (gotta love the bay). Turn the chosen plate upside down - make sure you place it on a firm surface that you won't mind getting damaged if the drill slips. I placed mine on a folded towel as well. Find the centre of the plate and start drilling - Be sure to keep dipping your drill bit in water so that the plate doesn't get too hot and crack. Once the holes are all drilled - get assembling! It really is that simple. I managed to make about 5 stands in one evening. Piece of cake.

Happy drilling!

I made this...

Ok, so I like making things (what's that saying about idle hands??) Anyhoo, just before Christmas I stumbled upon an old Ladybird book on the creche bookcase at church. I love old Ladybird books, there was so much artistry in the illustrations in those books which you just don't see now. Plus they remind me of my youth, which is, as they say, long gone (pity party for one..?).

I managed to source a couple more copies of the same book from eBay (gotta love the bay) and got creating. So here's the finished picture, the frame's new, but I distressed it a little to complete the look. Nice, huh?

Keep Vs Sell

OK, so when I bought this jacket I was so gonna put it in my shop to sell - I styled it, took the photos and everything, but on closer inspection I found a mark on the back. Whereas I'd be happy to wear it, it's not in good enough condition to sell in my opinion, so I get to keep it! YAY!

You can't tell from the photos, but the silver thread in it kinda sparkles, which is nice. I bought it from the Cathedral Charity Shop and the lovely lady who manages it, Olivia, told me she'd restyled it from a dressing gown to a jacket. I'll probably include it in an outfit post sometime in the near future.  Laters.

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day in the UK, so here is a shout out to all the wonderful mothers out there. Thank you for all the dedication, the time, the wiping of tears and, most of all, the love. We love you all to the moon.....and back.

Mother's Day in the Cookson household began with homemade cards and drawings and 3, yes 3, Dairy Milk Chocolate bars - result! However, the harmony quickly descended into madness because my youngest is unwell so my morning has been taken up with placating a grumpy child with the vocal capability of an air raid siren. This was quickly followed by a laundry DISASTER involving 2 nappies  going through the wash. Who does that? Me, clearly, because I am a moron. Despite the drama, life is still good and I'm thankful for my family. Mwah x x

I made this...

This lovely weather we've been having has been getting my creative juices flowing and I came up with a great idea with what to do with my vast stash of vintage scarves and brooches. These are my 'Bettina' bows and they look great attached to a vintage blouse or handbag. They'll be in my store soon. What do you think of them - you like...?

Say cheese!

Ok, so my lovely husband took the day off work today to look after the girls whilst I took photos and did some general admin for edenfound. Here are a few sneak peeks of me hard at work....

I LOVE these shoes!

Peekaboo!
I took 254 photos in total. I had so much fun - can't wait to showcase all my new items.
